Michaud, Ronald (Fr.)
Father Ronald Michaud was ordained on May 19, 1973. In 1989, a man reported that Michaud sexually abused him in 1974, when he was a teenager at St. Maria Goretti High School in the St. Ann parish. The abuse included masturbation and fondling. Michaud was removed from the ministry, sent for evaluation and treatment, and granted a leave of absence by the Diocese of Portland. In 2007, another survivor reported that Michaud kissed, fondled, and sexually assaulted him, facilitated by alcohol. A settlement was reached with the survivor.
Since then, three other survivors have reported similar instances of abuse, including oral rape. Lou Affrica, another abuser listed in the Maryland AG’s report, was mentioned in connection with the abuse. The Diocese of Portland publicly announced that Michaud was credibly accused and that his name was submitted to the Vatican for laicization in 2007.
